We met in the summer of 2020. We had both just moved to Davidson, NC for jobs at Davidson College – Katie as the director of Davidson Outdoors and Carter had accepted a one-year teaching position in the Art Department. Though we are both Davidson alums, we did not overlap during our time there as students.

We were introduced to each other via email by Mike Goode, who at the time was the Director of Student Activities at Davidson (and Katie’s boss), but had been the assistant director of Davidson Outdoors while each of us was a student. Given the isolating nature of social distancing, we were both eager for any kind of social interaction. Thus, a harmless meet-up at a picnic table between Summit Coffee and Pickled Peach for some kombucha preceded a cascade of events that has led us to invite all of you to our wedding.

That cascade has been filled with numerous adventures: we paddle, hike, climb, fly fish, disc golf and recently discovered a new love for rockhounding.
